Pro Bono – Helping the Community

Klein Solicitors provides pro bono advice to creative professionals and arts organisations on a discretionary basis through schemes operated by Lawyers Volunteering for the Arts (LVFA) and Own-it.

Lawyers Volunteering for the Arts is a pro bono legal project that was set up by a group of London law firms in 2012 to provide free legal advice to low income and not- for-profit arts and cultural organisations that would not otherwise be able to afford legal representation. The member solicitors offer advice on legal structures, contracts, intellectual property, employment, real estate, dispute resolution, joint ventures and mergers and acquisitions to a variety of community groups and small organisations involved in the visual, performance and conceptual arts throughout England and Wales. For more information, please visit the LVFA website at

Own-it was established in 2004 and is based at the University of the Arts London. The project supports creative businesses and individuals in the UK and internationally by providing free or low cost intellectual property advice on issues relating to contracts, licensing, assignments, royalty agreements, collaborative projects, infringement proceedings and business strategy. Own-it assists the creative and innovation sector in a combination of ways by organising public events, providing online advice sessions, face to face IP clinics, written legal advice, and through their informative website at
